The whole site is very well kept including the shower and toilet block which is modern and a pleasure to use. We particularly appreciated the enclosed dog area, perfect for our newly acquired rescue lurcher. The shady wooded site is just right for this hot weather. The main road is close by but couldn’t drown out the thrush who sang to us for hours morning and evening.

Just got back from a weekend away at woodlands, what a fantastic relaxing break it was a huge thank you to Tony and Carol. The site is so peaceful, toilet and showers was immaculate, Dog exercise area was a good size and very safe for the dogs. The pitches was well spaced out amongst the trees. Even tho the site is very peaceful it isn’t far from Ashbourne, so to me it was best of both worlds. We will be going back to this site and already have recommended it to others.
    Keep up the good work

Arrive as strangers leave as friends is the perfect analogy for this site. We love here it`s so tranquil and peaceful.
Tony and Carol run this park to perfection. Nothing is too much trouble and are both very informed on all things local. All the facilities are first class, clean and very tidy. There are 2 gates which are padlocked at dusk but you are given a key so there are no problems about leaving your vehicle outside.
The pitches are separated by either grass or ferns, all are hardstanding(don`t forget your rock pegs). All have EHU and you are not very far from the various water points around the site. At night there enough lights around the site to get around but these aren`t so bright that they intrusive. We don`t have a dog but there is a large area for dog walking.
The bird life around here is great, I`ve seen spotted and green woodpeckers, tree creepers, blue and great tits, chaffinch, nuthatch and a pair of Jays, not bad for a weekend !
We shall keep returning, when possible especially as this has to be the friendliest site we`ve visited.

A big ‘Thank you’ for a really restful stay over the weekend.
This was our first visit and we will certainly be back. A great place also for our two dogs – loved the fenced off area where they could run about and chase sticks and have fun. That is a brilliant idea.
The site is wonderful being set up amongst the trees with loads of space between you and the next caravan.
Facilities excellent and very very clean and everyone very friendly.
We’ve just spent the whole day sat reading and chilling.
Can’t wait to visit again soon.
    Thanks once again.

Stayed at this wonderful site on the recommendation of friends who stay here on a regular basis and we were not disappointed. The site is all you could wish for and more from a wood land site. The toilets and showers are modern fresh and cleaned to a very high standard.
We were looking for a site to stop at for long weekends within an hour of home close to the Peak district and this is definitely on the top of the list.
Tony and Carol are very professional in their approach being both friendly and approachable.

Our second visit to The Woodland Caravan site. A warm welcome from Tony and Carol on arrival and as per our previous visit we found the site in excellent order. Clean shower / toilet blocks, hot water etc . . . Our children had a fantastic time playing and making dens in the wood, our dogs really enjoyed the spacious woodland exercise pen.
This really is a lovely site and over the bank holiday we enjoyed the added bonus of lovely weather throughout. The woodland is really beautiful and in a perfect location for easy vehicle access from the main A515. Definitely one of our favourite sites offering easy access to many local attractions and above all a great place to just stop and chill out. We all had a great time.

Another great break at Woodland, which is (so far) the only site that we have been to more than once! This time we had much better weather (last visit we were snowed in at Easter, although it must be said that it was still an enjoyable “adventure”!) and were able to actually get to Dovedale this time around. As ever, peace and quiet reigned and the two dogs loved the place. We will definitely be making a third visit!

(sadly no Merlin this time around, but we did get to meet “new boy” Bramble – Charlie loved saying hello to him, whilst Maddy stood and barked in the background!)

Stayed here for two nights. What a fab place. Laid back, quiet, idyllic. The kids loved the freedom with their bikes and loved taking the dog for a walk in the wood enclosure. Safe, friendly and we will Definately be going back. We went into Ashbourne town and it was excellent, pubs, shops, quirky boutiques and a fab park for kids with water splash bit and great play bit for all ages.

What a fantastic weekend break we have just had at this jewel of a Derbyshire caravan site.
We loved the secluded woodland location, almost as if you have dropped into a different world! Our children kept saying they were in a real forest and were so excited.
Clean, friendly and perfectly placed for a great weekend enjoying walks on the Tissington Trail, Dovedale and best of all just chilling on this lovely site.

The site managers are friendly and welcoming as always! We have been several times now in our camper and now in our teardrop caravan. We have just come back from our Easter holiday and wanted to say how brilliant this site is. The children are allowed to play in the woods building dens. The showers/facilities are brilliant and water is hot. The people who run the site are lovely and very friendly and helpful. This is our 3rd stay on this site and we will be visiting again. There is so much to do within a few miles. Well worth a visit.

We came to stay just prior to what we anticipated would be a warm Easter, but managed to arrived literally the day before unprecedented Easter snow fell, in huge quantities! With a severe wind this meant drifts higher than the car in places…

However, we had no problems. We had plenty of food and were only short of wine, a situation kindly remedied by Tony the warden!

The next day, Tony and Carol worked tirelessly for literally hours to ensure that the entrance to the site was free from snow, despite it being Carol’s birthday! (and, coincidentally, our youngest dog’s birthday too!). The day after this a JCB arrived and worked for 9 hours plus to clear all the roads and all the pitches – so we can say with confidence that anyone planning to arrive this Easter weekend will have no problems with the site.

Will we come again? Definitely! We’ve had a great, peaceful time being the only guests for very nearly a week! The two Labradoodles, Charlie and Maddy, have loved the snow, most of the time being able to play in drifts taller than their legs are long! Great site and we’ve been looked after magnificently, with Tony and Carol making every effort to ensure we’ve not run out of anything and have had access to non-frozen water!

Looking forward to coming back soon

We stayed at the caravan park from Thursday August 18th until Monday August 29th 2011. We asked for two adjacent pitches, the other being for my son-in-law, daughter and grand-daughter so that my grand-daughter could commute between our vans safely. The pitches we were given were absolutely ideal and because of that we enjoyed a 10 day holiday without any problems at all.

The site was marvellous, the Wardens extremely friendly and helpful and the toilets and showers were more than adequate and spotlessly clean. There was even a washing m/c, tumble dryer and a microwave oven – holiday heaven, especially with a three year old grand-daughter. We all had a marvellous holiday – thank you for making it so trouble free, even the rain managed to occur overnight.

Hope to come again in the near future because I think this site has spoiled us for any other.

We had a great 9 day stay during the Easter holidays. The site and facilities are clean and well maintained. Tony and Carol-the wardens, were very friendly and helpful. The site is well planned and the pitches are spaced out nicely. Lots of local walks but if you are heading to the pub at Clifton check the opening times! We hope to return in the future.

Stopped Easter 2012. First visit this season stayed many times last year. Lovely little site great dog walking area, can’t keep our boo out. Showers and toilets are always very clean, pitches are a good size. What makes this site so special are the wardens Tony and Carol always friendly and helpful even coming out to open the gate in the pouring rain. We will be back many times this season.

We loved, loved, loved this site. Very easy to find, quiet when not too many children are on the site, but set in the most beautiful surroundings. It was just so nice to be ‘in the woods’.

Toilet and shower block were clean and tidy and plenty of hot water. Washing up facilities and laundry facilities were good and there was also a microwave available to use which was a super thought.

The owners were really helpful and very pleasant and we will definitely be returning. Dog walking was excellent and the local village very picturesque and quaint. No play area for children but that wasn’t a priority for us. Do not hesitate to book this site

What a great site set in the woods, the younger members of our party loved playing making dens and tree climbing, good enclosed dog walk where you can let your dog run loose

On arriving at the site friday evening we were met by a very warm welcome and didn’t even need to ask our normal question can we stay later on sunday pm as leaving early always seems pointless on a weekend break, as we were informed we could stay till 6pm on our departure day.

Toilets modern & clean as were the showers, lots of water points round the site, will definitely use this site again.

Well what can we say. 100% as usual. A warm welcome to new wardens Carole and Tony who are doing a grand job at keeping the site clean, fresh and spotless. Read the reviews below and go and see for yourselves.

The site is very rustic, set in the woods, very well lit at night with an immaculate toilet and shower block, laundry room re-cycling bins, enclosed dog walking area, EHU, plentiful water points, CDP

Just a five minute drive from Ashbourne town ( M&S simply food / Sainsbury’s) and 15 minutes from Carsington water/ Tissington trail. And just perfect if you want to get away from it all. Our boys love it there with their bikes

Just returned from a week long stay at Woodland Caravan Park.It was so good we’ve booked for the next two weekends!

The site wardens are extremely friendly and helpful, full of useful information about the area, what to do and where to go. The pitches themselves are a good size – ours was big enough for our caravan, porch awning and 4×4. There are bigger pitches available though – you just need to state the size of your caravan, awning etc when booking to ensure that you’re allocated the right size pitch.

The facilities are modern, clean and to a high standard. The shower water was the perfect temperature – not too hot for my OH and the children, but hot enough for me who likes the steam out the bathroom!

Great for dogs – the enclosure is good for a 5 minute run around and toilet break, but the field it right next to the camp site, with a public footpath going on for miles if you want a decent walk on your doorstep.

We took our niece and nephew (7 and 9) who loved the camp site. Great for tree climbing (obv!), building dens and hide and seek! We visited Dovedale (kids recommended the icecream and the stepping stones), Ilam Country Park (again icecream comes recommended!) and the ‘Heights of Abraham’ (which the kids rated 10 out of 10). We are big fans of the Peak District so found the site an excellent base for exploring the beautiful countryside that this area boosts. See you next weekend!

We stayed at Woodlands for a long May Bank holiday weekend and what a treat. The owners were very friendly when we booked and so welcoming when we arrived showing us around a lovely woodland site

The toilets and showers were amongst the best we have seen and were always immaculate. The pitches were very generous in size, all being separated from each other with more woodland. My children, Twin Girls aged 7 (children under 10 are free and you don’t see that much nowadays), loved it, climbing trees and dragging logs and branches around to make dens.

The site is in a great location, only 5 minutes away from Ashbourne and we all did a 16 mile bike ride on the Tissington Trail (10 Minutes away) which we would recommend to all. Also the walk from Dovedale to Milldale is great for a short hike which is also only about 20 minutes away.

I would like to thank the owners very much for a great stay and will definitely be visiting again, Probably in a couple of weeks.

What a stunning site! Looks fantastic from the minute you drive in. First impression is that the site is very secure with locking gates on the access roads.

The site is set out on a circular route, and although there are 40 pitches, the layout in amongst the trees will leave you feeling as though you have the place to yourself. Well lit without being obtrusive.

The toilet block is very modern and two double glazed doors keep the block warm. The showers are clean and pleasant – although the push button is annoying – you get about 30 seconds before the button needs pushing again. There is a recycling area and a laundry which has proper industrial units at a brilliantly cheap price. Only a pound for an hour in the dryer! The dog walk was closed – a temporary measure – but my labs were more than happy with walking around the rest of the forest and nearby empty field.

Location is good, only minutes from Ashbourne. An M&S Food store is nearest big shop. Nice selection of shops and pubs in Ashbourne. Very handy for Alton Towers.

This is an excellent site, being a quiet attractive wooded site with large, spread out pitches, [all with electric and water]. First class toilets and a very friendly and helpful owner. It is only £12.50 per night weekdays and £15 at weekends.

The Cock Inn at Clifton serves quality food at cheap prices [and lets in dogs] and is a superb pub, [2 minutes by car down the A515]

The site is conveniently located near Ashbourne

    Very impressed with the site.

Locked gates on the entrance to which you’re given a key ensures nobody can access the site with a vehicle unless they’re staying meaning total security.

The toilet block was also locked and was spotlessly clean with modern facilities and a hairdryer that actually worked.

The laundry area had little touches like a drainer to help the drying of pots instead of them swimming on the draining board, even a microwave for use should you need one.

A lot of thought has gone into this site to give it such a good layout, nobody directly next to anyone else, still lots of trees and greenery between each pitch.

We’ll definitely be using this site again.
